DESIGN
We worked with internationally respected designers Eric Giroud and Jean-Francois Mojon to accomplish Sequential One. The watch is a masterpiece where each function is based on a combination of elements rotating on three dimensional axes, at different speeds and moments. The Minutes dial, made of brushed sapphire, is an object of delicate beauty and underneath it, one can see the hour prisms gently rotating. On the watch back, through the pure sapphire crystal, the bespoke mechanical calibre and beautiful balance assembly can be observed. All bridges have been finished in the centuries old manner, featuring Côtes de Genève decoration.
The watch case marries generosity and refinement in a subtle and elegant way. The case is gently sweetened by rounded edges, leaning towards the creation of a sphere. The strong and powerful character of the watch is preserved as it gently nestles on the wrist.
Sequential One has yet another intriguing feature, where light is channelled into the Movement through a band of sapphire crystal, ingeniously sandwiched between the two sides of the elegant watch case. Sequential One is totally integrated and all parts of the watch and case are uniquely made in Switzerland. Only the highest specification materials are selected for each of these unique, technically complex but traditionally elegant watches.
The hour is presented in an anti-clockwise sequence, on the faces of prisms, at the four corresponding points of a compass. Minutes are indicated by the 18 carat Minute hand which has either a white or red flash, depending on the choice of gold watch case. When the Minute hand reaches 60 on the delicate sapphire crystal dial, the dial springs anti-clockwise 90°, and the next hour numeral is revealed. Without further motion, the Minute hand is now set at 0 minutes, ready to begin another 60 minute cycle.
The prism rotation is a masterstroke of design. Full of wonder and fun. When the Minute hand approaches 30 on the sapphire dial the prisms directly opposite the current hour on display, start to slowly rotate. After a few minutes the rotation is complete and a new hour numeral can be partially seen, which will be used to indicate the time, 2 hours hence.
